V4

The V4 brings high speed digital colour 2 x megapixel vision capability, enhanced inspection tools, colour processing at speed, high definition and a multitude of configuration options to the Mapex Inspection equipment portfolio.

A maximum of 16 cameras, in any combination, can be simultaneously run off one Mapex Inspection vision platform via the TFT colour HMI display. There are eight camera options allowing a huge range of configuration options – monochrome, colour, standard resolution, megapixel, 2 x megapixel and miniature.

Traditionally, colour inspection has been time limited due to the speed of image grabbing and processing. The use of triple processors and special image handling software provide colour inspection at production line speeds. The Mapex -V4- is approx twice as fast in full operation, but has the option of partial image reading software which is ten times faster than standard technologies. Image buffering software allows background processing of one image, whilst another is being acquired.

The megapixel and 2 megapixel digital image processing allow single images to be acquired and interrogated in detail. Up to 128 inspection functions can be actioned on an acquired image. For example, this allows a single image of a bottle to be acquired and zones of interest to be “zoomed in” on allowing macro and micro views from the same camera. This provides users with benefits when inspecting larger items, as these are traditionally inspected using several cameras mounted adjacent to each other – a single V4 2 x megapixel camera has a view > eight standard cameras at the same resolution.

In tandem with V4 comes development of Camera Position Recovery. This test and calibration hardware / software allows users to confirm correct positioning of cameras / lights and an be used at start of run to confirm correct position for inspection; or as a recovery tool following a smash up.
