Laser Underfill and overfill check
A container is underfilled when the actual fill level is below the nominal fill level. It is overfilled when the fill level is above the nominal fill level.
A fill level inspector is a height gauge which is set to a height (mm) above the conveyor. It does not measure the weight (g or oz) or volume (ml) as may be indicated on the container. Neither does it measure fill height down from the sealing surface as may be indicated on a measuring container.
Mapex Inspection offers laser-based inspection for bottles ranging from clear plastic water bottles to dark amber glass, or sleeved or labelled bottles. We do not use radiation to inspect fill levels in bottles. To find out why, please download our ‘Reasons not to use radiation’ datasheet below.
We are on the fourth generation of development of laser fill level. The product will work on a wide range of glass or plastic bottles with no adjustment other than height. The lasers will even operate through decorative sleeves.
Our development of the product means it is suitable for use on a wide variety of bottle contents and offers considerable operating benefits to the user:
- no direct Health & Safety implications
- no NaCTSO priority status
- not impacted by glass variations
- not impacted by glass pigmentation
- not impacted by temperature variation
