Chipped neck detection
Many bottlers are totally reliant upon virgin glass. This glass has, in all probability, been inspected fully by the glassworks prior to despatch.
But there may have been damage in transit. Mapex Inspection provides an inexpensive chipped neck detector that examines the top of the container to detect this damage.
Subject to bottling line configuration, this inspection can also be located between filling and closing, detecting possible damage caused by a filling tube colliding with the container neck.
Faults of >1mm can easily be detected on the top of the bottle. Rejecting such bottles ensure that damaged glass is not rinsed, filled or capped. This greatly reduces the possibility of cross contamination of other containers and a costly product recall.
